The
challenge for Switched Reluctance Drives Ltd was to
develop a drive unit for a door automation system that
would operate without being noticed. When it
came to designing this all-new sliding door operating
system, guidance was sought from architects, door manufacturers
and building managers. The requirement was for a system
which would operate invisibly.
Invisible performance meant developing
a system that blended into the door architecture, that
performed silently and that required next to no maintenance.
Innovative

by a custom-designed SR Drive® switched
reluctance system, provides quieter operation and
lower service costs.
SR Drive® motor
eliminates the need for a gearbox.
To achieve this required a more
compact mechanism incorporating the highest possible precision,
safety and dependability. The result is an operating
system capable of opening all types of doors in openings
from 900mm up to 3 metres and with seven pre-programmed opening
alternatives.
At the heart of the system is
an innovative direct drive unit powered by a custom-designed
SR Drive® switched reluctance
system. The SR Drive® motor
eliminates the need for a gearbox, which is usually the component
that creates noise in a door system. This, together
with the drive’s inherent efficiency and reliability,
means quieter operation and lower service costs.
With the help of SR Drive® technology,
doors are silently opening and closing at airports, hotels,
supermarkets, offices and hospitals all over the world.
